Chris Wilder will have a closer look at his players’ fitness today after he was again unable to fill a full bench at Bristol Rovers yesterday. The Blades boss could only name eight players instead of nine, but one of those was 18-year-old Kyron Gordon. Positive coronavirus tests and injuries have hit Sheffield United’s squad hard in recent weeks. Wilder says the players will return to Shirecliffe again today and he will know more then about who has a chance of featuring against Steve Bruce’s men.
Chris Wilder said “We are preparing now for the next game on Tuesday, so we will assess that, A few players playing with knocks and players who are out for quite a while. We are in on Sunday, so will assess it and see where they are and if they are not available we get on with it like we have done. We go with the players who are fit and able to turn out against Newcastle. There were not many changes I could have made. We had 19 here, a couple who couldn’t have started and could not have played more than 20 minutes.”
