#PLHistory #PremierLeagueStories on Jan 19 1993 – We are still the best – Liverpool Boss #GraemeSouness

Graeme Souness

A defiant Graeme Souness urged Liverpool’s fans not to panic as he declared “In footballing terms, we are still the best.” The Anfield boss, heavily criticized after the Reds’ elimination from the FA cup hoped to take his first-team squad to Ireland for a friendly against Shelbourne.

Graeme Souness said “I can assure you there is no panic at Anfield, in purely footballing terms we are still the best in the land. The trouble, quite simply, is down to our defense. Time and again this season we have played people off the park, then given away a silly goal that has undermined our confidence.”
