Liverpool’s first-team squad will get some hard-earned time off during a rare break in the fixture schedule next week. Eight days separate the Reds’ trip to Crystal Palace on Saturday and their Anfield clash with West Bromwich Albion on December 27. And Jurgen Klopp is planning to make the most of a brief lull in what has been a hectic schedule by allowing his players to rest, even if he is also keen to use some of that time for training. Asked about the possibility of a rest for the squad, the German joked
Jurgen Klopp said “Yeah, we meet again an hour before the West Brom game! They will have a day off, of course, but the thing is that we have to prepare the rest of the season as well. So it’s like, do nothing or do recovery is a massive difference, but of course they will have time off, that’s clear. But we will, for sure, use the first three/four days for extended recovery. How we will do that is not finally decided yet but then we will prepare the West Brom game obviously and the rest of the season because we cannot train in this period. We have the intensity, the amount of games is a hard one, but no time for proper training is another challenge. We want to use that [time] and hopefully it will help us for the rest of the season. Very welcome but, again, I don’t want to speak about it, just happy about it. But no more words!”
