Mason Greenwood has been encouraged by head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to continue learning while he learns from the more accomplished forwards alongside him at Manchester United.
The 19-year-old faced a tough start to the season, combating disease and off-field conflicts, including being dismissed for violating COVID-19 guidelines from an England squad in September.
On Saturday, Greenwood played just his sixth game of the season at West Ham and he was hauled off after 45 minutes at Southampton in his previous start. But the teenager lasted the entire game this time and he created a brilliant turn and end to bring United ahead on their way to a 3-1 victory.
That was just his third goal of the season in 12 Red Shirt appearances, but he is expected to be back in Germany due to the absence of Anthony Martial and Edinson Cavani for the decisive trip to RB Leipzig on Tuesday.
Solskjaer said, “Mason is a very talented forward. He is one of the best finishers I’ve worked with. When we can provide chances for him, or he creates chances for himself with his movement, we’ve got a good chance of scoring goals. He’s still young and still learning and he will only improve with the quality and the characters we have around him in the team. It’s exciting to work with him.”
