Red Devils head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reported that during the win over West Ham, both Anthony Martial and Edinson Cavani were substituted due to injuries and would undergo scans.
Martial had started against the Hammers on the right flank with Cavani as the central striker and Mason Greenwood flanked on the right.
Following Tomas Soucek’s opener at the London Stadium, United were down at half-time and Solskjaer made a double shift with Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford replacing Cavani and Donny van de Beek. Martial was going daintily just minutes into the second half and was unable to play, later being substituted by Juan Mata.
Solskjaer reported that both forwards sustained fractures that would be monitored ahead of Tuesday’s vital Champions League meeting with RB Leipzig.
Ole said, “We lost Anthony and Edinson. Hopefully they aren’t too bad but they couldn’t carry on today. There’s a game coming up on Tuesday but that’s probably going to be the season this year. There’s going to be some games that we have to do without players and I’m glad we’ve got the subs that we have. They’re not bad ones (injuries) hopefully. We’ll do scans and hopefully they’ll be available soon.”
