Sheffield United have signed former Everton, Manchester City and Sunderland starlet midfielder Jack Rodwell until the end of the season. Rodwell, capped three times by England in the early part of his career, has been training with the club in recent weeks. Why was injury prone midfielder signed by Chris Wilder ?
Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder confirmed the former Everton and Manchester City man will be offered a deal.
Chris Wilder said ” We’re hoping to get that one over the line this morning,” said Wilder of a deal for Rodwell. It’ll be a short team deal until the end of the season with the option of extending that. Rodwell will offer versatility and experience in a number of key positions while adding further depth to the group at an important time of the season.”
In his time at Sunderland, Glynn Snodin and Ian Miller returning from a training session raving about Jack’s performance in defense – a revelation at that time. Jack Rodwell’s reading of the game, and his touch, we’re both praised. Chris Wilder perhaps believes that Premier League is a division that perhaps suits Rodwell more than the extra fixtures of the Championship and League One and he may be the man to get the most out of Rodwell.
