Nuno Espirito Santo has once again gone on the charm offensive with star winger Adama Traore. Wolverhampton Wanderers want to tie Traore down to a new contract at Molineux but negotiations between the club and his representatives have stalled. Traore still has three years remaining on his current contract so there’s little reason for Wolves to panic, but his suitors are likely to be encouraged by the stand-off. Wolves’ case is no doubt not being helped by Traore’s lack of game-time with Daniel Podence and Pedro Neto preferred in attack since the 4-0 defeat to West Ham in September. But Nuno remains adamant that Traore is still central to his plans at Wolves and gave the following response when asked whether he still hopes an agreement can be reached over a new deal.
Nuno Espirito Santo “Of course, Adama is a huge player for us. The impact that he has on the games, what he gives to the team, what he’s done over these two seasons. We want all the players to be happy here. Adama was with Spain, he returned healthy,” added Nuno. “Now he’s preparing like all of us for Monday. He’s handling it as much as possible, No player wants to be out of the training session, not be involved in the squad. For Conor it’s a big problem. We are in contact and he has his individual training sessions but we still don’t know how he’s going to be. He is trying to maintain his level of fitness but he hasn’t been involved in training since the first day of England training.”
