Manchester United legend Denis Law reflected on 1992 and suggested that it was a year that was going to be historic with regards to many decisions taken, some of which included the launch of the new premier league and England hosting the 1996 European Championship. But one particular rule that he appreciated the most was the back pass rule. He noted that the result of the rule has seen a reduced number of stoppages in the play and the game is kept moving. Defenders were actually learning to use the ball and had started to play the ball out of the back which was a very heartening thing to see.
