Isaac Hayden has offered a brutal assessment of Newcastle’s horror show at Southampton and admitted the team must improve. United midfielder Hayden looks set to earn a recall for the Chelsea game on Saturday as Steve Bruce ponders changes. He may be paired with Sean Longstaff if Jeff Hendrick – who was sent off for Ireland on Sunday – pays the price for recent struggles. And the straight-talking midfielder evidently agrees with Fabian Schar’s summary that the game was one to forget.
Isaac Hayden said “The last game was a poor game in terms of everything involved in the game, The start, the middle and the end were awful. It was a difficult game, a difficult experience. Now we’re fully focused on the next run of games which are important. It was backs to the wall then I pop up at the end with daylight robbery at the end of the game, Hopefully it doesn’t go like that again and we have a bit more of a comfortable win than we did. Although we’d take it again, hopefully we’re a bit better on the ball and cause them a few more problems than we have done in the previous few games. I think after the Man United game it wasn’t quite right, it wasn’t 100%. We played the Everton game, the team did well and I only played 10 minutes but it wasn’t 100% then either. I feel 100% now and ready and raring to go and help the team to kick on and get up the league.”
