Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has issued a fitness update on Sergio Aguero ahead of Sunday’s blockbuster clash with Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
Pep Guardiola said “Right now, I don’t know. He’s getting better but I don’t know. We don’t want him to have a setback but he’s getting better. I don’t know about Liverpool but I think for sure after the international break he will be ready.”
Aguero, now 32, has broken the 20-goal barrier in all but one of his previous nine seasons in Manchester (reaching at least 30 goals on five occasions) and has registered seven times against the Reds over the years. City’s all-time leading scorer – with 255 goals for the club to date – hasn’t featured since his side’s 1-1 draw at West Ham United on October 24 when he was withdrawn at half-time at the London Stadium with a muscular injury. However, after missing City’s away wins over Marseille (3-0) and Sheffield United (1-0), he remains a doubt for the visit of Jurgen Klopp’s side in what has become a meeting of the Premier League’s two leading sides over the past couple of seasons.
