Victor Lindelof praised Manchester United’s attackers after their win over RB Leipzig in the Champions League.United’s defence also performed well to keep a clean sheet at the other end but Sweden international Lindelof praised the forwards for the win.
Victor Lindelof said “As a defensive unit with David (de Gea) as well we know that if we keep a clean sheet the guys up front give us a great chance. Most of the time they score goals as well. Our job is always to try and keep it locked down at the back because we have a lot of firepower up front. I am very, very happy for Marcus Rashford. To come in and score three goals like that is unbelievable. He changed the game completely and the things he did with the ball and the chances he created… he’s a fantastic player and I’m very happy for him.”
United sent an emphatic statement of intent on Wednesday night as they thrashed Bundesliga leaders Leipzig 5-0 at Old Trafford. Mason Greenwood started the scoring with his first goal in the Champions League before substitute Marcus Rashford netted a late hat-trick and Anthony Martial scored from the penalty spot. The resounding win is a huge confidence boost for United following their weekend draw with Chelsea and Lindelof was blown away by his side’s attacking output.
