Sean Dyche felt Burnley’s performance against Tottenham was another step in the right direction. The 1-0 defeat against Spurs at Turf Moor was harsh on the Clarets, who have one point from their opening five games of the new campaign. And Spurs boss Jose Mourinho praised his side for coming through a tough test in East Lancashire, saluting his “clever” opposite number.
Jose Mourinho said “That was exactly what I was expecting – I know Sean and I know the difficulties he can bring to attacking teams. He’s very clever, he plays with what he has, and he gave us what I was expecting, which was a very difficult match. It was the kind of match where if we take too many risks, we can lose it.”
