Manchester United midfielder Fred believes Edinson Cavani will bring an invaluable level of experience to the squad following his arrival in the summer.
Fred said “Of course, Cavani is older, more experienced [than our other strikers], so I’m sure Marcus [Rashford], Mason [Greenwood] and Anthony [Martial] will learn from him in that position – as they do from Odion Ighalo, too. The players there will learn as he’s a bit more experienced. I watch the more experienced players in my position and I look to see what they’re doing, right or wrong, to learn from them. I’m sure they [our forwards] will learn from Cavani as well, in the same way they have learnt from Odion and other centre-forwards. He’s come to help, to add to the team, and I’m certain he’ll contribute a lot.”
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer risked the wrath of supporters as he made a move to sign the 33-year-old free agent on transfer deadline day, missing out on Jadon Sancho. United had set themselves the target of signing the best young homegrown talent in the transfer market but decided to pause their cultural reset in order to bring Cavani to the club. Although the Uruguayan veteran does necessarily fulfil the club’s typical transfer criteria, Fred believes he will be a fantastic addition to the first-team squad with his experience a huge boost to the strikers already at the club.
