Carlo Ancelotti has opened up on a joke he shared with Dominic Calvert-Lewin in Everton training and commented on what the striker’s motivation must be in the future. The Blues forward has been in sensational form so far this term, scoring in every one of his side’s Premier League fixtures in 2020/21. And Ancelotti believes that, naturally, people will now expect more from the striker. The manager also opened up on a training ground joke he shared with the forward about his form at the beginning of the season and explained what his motivation needs to be.
Carlo Ancelotti said “I was joking with him today! I said, ‘What is the most important goal that you scored?’. He was thinking about what was the most important. So I said, ‘Don’t think about it. The next one is the most important so be focused there, the most important goal will be the next one’. He’s doing really well, but for the fact that he has done so well everyone expects a little bit more. That has to be his motivation. He has to be ready to show a little bit more. He (Michael Keane) is doing really well, scoring goals which is important. He played a lot of games really well, but there wasn’t a lot of competition! Mina and Michael were more comfortable to not be in competition, but he has put in fantastic performances until now.”
