Jose Mourinho admits he thought Danny Rose would move on when he joined Newcastle United in January.
Jose Mourinho said “Danny is not part of our squad. Danny wanted very, very much to leave in the January window last season. Why? Because he wanted to play and play and play. Steve Bruce had been keen to make Rose’s loan signing a permanent deal but his valuation, wage demands and Newcastle’s post-pandemic budget squeeze combined to make the deal impossible. United moved to sign Jamal Lewis from Norwich instead while Rose failed to find himself a club, with a move to Genoa falling through. The left-back is now left without a squad number for the next part of the season after Spurs left him out of their 25-man group.
