Coventry manager Bobby Gould was writing a letter of complaint to Britain’s prime minister John Major after being forced to stay away from his old club West Bromwich Albion. Gould was due to cover the FA Cup second round replay between West Brom and Wycombe Wanderers at the Hawthorns as part of the Sky TV team but police advised him not to turn up. Gould, who enjoyed a stormy relationship with the Albion fans, during his reign as manager endured a stream of abuse when he covered the second round tie at Wycombe. And he was stopped from attending the replay because police feared public disorder if he turned up.
