After Tottenham’s mauling of Manchester United, Mourinho dropped a transfer hint ahead of deadline day. It’s been a busy summer for Spurs with Gareth Bale, Sergio Reguilon, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Doherty arriving from Real Madrid, Southampton and Wolverhampton Wanderers respectively. Joe Hart also signed on a free transfer. Those additions have given Tottenham strength in depth, something Mourinho admitted he was pleased with ahead of the final day of the European transfer window.
Jose Mourinho said “I’m very happy with the squad that I have, Only that squad could win three matches in five days. Only this squad, that’s why I said against Chelsea that the squad won, not the guys who were on the pitch. The same against Maccabi and the same tonight. It’s a squad and the squad has lots of options and lots of good players. Especially in the attacking areas, the potential, the numbers of options, are absolutely incredible. Lucas, Lamela and Gareth Bale, Vinicius, Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Bergwijn, Son and I probably forgot somebody. Incredible squad that we have in the attacking areas.”
