Carlo Ancelotti said Everton delivered the “complete game” in defeating Brighton – but insisted it was “not the right place” to talk about Jordan Pickford’s latest error. Everton returned to the top of the table after seeing off the Seagulls 4-2 at Goodison.
Carlo Ancelotti said “He did a mistake but nothing happened, We have three points and that is the most important part. I think this is not the right place to talk about Jordan. If I say something it will be when he comes back, I am going to talk to him. Yes, we are really pleased with the start, we did really well in this period, winning games and showing our quality, The spirit was good. We are really pleased but this is only the start of the season. Now we have an international break when we can rest. It was a busy time and hopefully we can come back with the same spirit and the same attitude. In general the attacking football was good because we had opportunities. We were really clinical in set-pieces and really good on the counter-attack. We played a complete game. We defended with a low block, in a good position and defended well. So I am pleased.”
