Jurgen Klopp has revealed what he told Bernd Leno after the Arsenal goalkeeper helped dump Liverpool out of the Carabao Cup. Leno made saves from Divock Origi and Harry Wilson to send the Reds tumbling to a 5-4 defeat on penalties at Anfield on Thursday. Liverpool had dominated during a goalless 90 minutes but couldn’t find a way past Leno, who saved well from Diogo Jota, Virgil van Dijk and Marko Grujic.
Jurgen Klopp said “I told him after the game, I was not too happy about that! We had really good moments – as a manager I wish that we scored but I want to see us create. Yes, the boys can play better but I am not sure they can play better after two days’ training against a changed Arsenal team. They did their analysis as well and didn’t give us the space like the last game. You have to learn from the game and I thought the boys did really well. We defended them really well and played some really good football. Diogo had some good moments, his physicality with his technique was really good to watch. We showed the quality, it just didn’t work out tonight and that is completely okay. We will try again, I will promise.”
