James Ward Prowse
West Ham United’s managerial decisions could significantly impact James Ward-Prowse’s future at the club. The England international, who spent the latter part of last season on loan at Burnley, has been a subject of speculation regarding his role and future at West Ham. Shane Long, Ward-Prowse’s former Southampton teammate, has weighed in on the situation, highlighting the midfielder’s potential impact in the Championship.
Shane Long said: “He’d be unbelievable for West Ham in the Championship, but it just depends on whether the manager stays or not. There’s obviously something there with the manager and Prowsey. I can’t see him being a bad egg. You’d have him in any squad, so there must be something personal going on or whatever’s happened. But if the manager’s there, Prowsey won’t be.”
Shane Long continued: “When the manager came in and put him straight into the youth team and then sent him out on loan, god knows what was going on. It’s impacting West Ham as a club more than anything else because they could really benefit from having him in the team. The reasoning behind it is confusing because I know Prowsey as a person and a player, to not have him in the dressing room is a wild decision.”
Shane Long added: “Prowsey’s delivery is a joke. Like I said, he’s the model pro, he’s first in, last out, and always does extra bits. His diet is clean, and he’s a good Dad. It’s hard to find a bad angle on him.”
Ward-Prowse’s time at Burnley saw him make 14 appearances, although he couldn’t aid in keeping the team in the Premier League. Despite his contributions, the decision to loan him out has led to questions about his standing with West Ham’s management. The uncertainty surrounding the managerial position at West Ham adds another layer of complexity to his situation. If the current manager remains, Ward-Prowse’s future at the club seems bleak, as indicated by Long’s comments.
Ward-Prowse himself has expressed a desire to focus on the remainder of the season, indicating a commitment to repaying the faith shown in him by the club.
James Ward-Prowse said: “I’ll be just looking forward now to focusing on the last remainder of the season. I feel wanted and respected and I’ll be looking forward to repaying that to the club for giving me the opportunity.”
As the season progresses, Ward-Prowse’s future at West Ham remains uncertain, hinging largely on managerial decisions and the club’s strategic direction.
