Aston Villa’s triumphant performance against SC Freiburg in Istanbul left a lasting impression on one devoted fan. Scott Wood, a Villa season ticket holder, celebrated the team’s victory by getting a tattoo of the European trophy and Argentine midfielder Emiliano Buendia inked on his leg. Buendia, who played a pivotal role in the match with a spectacular goal, shared a photo of the tattoo on social media platform X.
Scott Wood said: “The entire trip was just me and my dad. It was the trip of a lifetime. It’s not just the game I’ll always remember. That city holds such a special place in all of our hearts now.” He added, “As for THAT goal by Emi…it will go down in my mind as the greatest goal I’ve ever seen in the flesh. Youri’s goal was special too. It’ll go down in history.”
Scott Wood continued: “It needs its own banner in the new North Stand to sit alongside the ‘Peter Withe, It Must Be, It Is!’ banner. Can’t wait for the next tattoo session, and for next year when I’ll get my left leg done with the European Cup.”
Scott Wood also expressed gratitude towards the tattoo artist, saying, “She really does deserve recognition for it because she’s fantastic.”
The victory in Istanbul was a significant moment for Aston Villa, as they showcased their prowess on the European stage. Buendia’s goal, along with the team’s overall performance, has been etched in the memories of Villa fans, with Scott Wood’s tattoo serving as a testament to the unforgettable experience. The fan’s dedication, traveling weekly from his home city to watch Villa from the North Stand, highlights the deep connection and loyalty supporters have with their club.
