William Saliba
Arsenal’s recent Premier League victory has been a testament to the defensive solidity provided by William Saliba and his centre-half partner, Gabriel Magalhaes. The duo has been instrumental in the Gunners’ success, forming the backbone of the team’s formidable defense. As Arsenal prepares for the UEFA Champions League final, Saliba took a moment to reflect on their Premier League triumph and the journey that led to it.
William Saliba said: “We are so happy to finally win the Premier League. Everyone is happy at the club, and everyone is happy in the city. We watched the game here, altogether, and at the end of the game we were so happy.”
He added: “Now we are champions. Last season we finished second, but even when we finished second, we had the good mentality the season after to keep going, and it finally paid off. When you win a trophy, it is positive. We can see everyone is in a good mood, the staff, the players. It is better that you win the league before the Champions League final so now everyone is happy. We have one more game in the Premier League, but whatever happens, we are champions, and then we have one week to prepare for Paris.”
Saliba’s journey with Arsenal has not been without its challenges. Initially, his relationship with manager Mikel Arteta was not perfectly aligned, leading to loan spells at Nice and Marseille. However, upon his return, Saliba established himself as a key player in the squad, consistently delivering strong performances.
William Saliba admitted: “It has been a long journey, up and down, but now I am so happy. I was not always happy when I was on loan and not playing but it is part of the process.”
The triumph in the Premier League is not seen as a one-off success for Arsenal. The club aims to build on this victory and establish a dynasty of dominance in English football. Saliba and his teammates are already looking ahead, with ambitions to defend their title and maintain their status as Premier League champions.
As Arsenal gears up for the Champions League final, the mood within the club is one of optimism and determination. The Gunners are eager to translate their domestic success onto the European stage, with Saliba playing a crucial role in their aspirations.
