Burnley’s end-of-season awards night saw Zian Flemming emerge as the standout winner, claiming the prestigious Player of the Season accolade. The award, determined by a public vote, highlighted Flemming’s significant impact on the team throughout the campaign.
Zian Flemming said: “I’d like to thank all of the supporters who voted for me. Your support has never wavered and it’s been audible every time I’ve stepped out on to the pitch, either at Turf Moor or across the country.”
Flemming’s performance was instrumental in Burnley’s successful season, with the winger scoring his eighth league goal of the campaign, contributing to nine goals overall. His efforts were complemented by Loum Tchaouna, who secured the Goal of the Season award for his spectacular long-range strike in the 2-0 victory over Leeds United. Tchaouna’s remarkable tally of 22 goals not only propelled the Clarets to the title but also earned him the distinction of being the division’s top scorer.
Loum Tchaouna said: “I’m really proud to have won both awards. To be recognised by both the fans and my team-mates means a lot to me and I couldn’t have done anything without either of their support. Clearly it’s been a fantastic season with winning promotion to WSL2, and this just makes it that extra little bit special for me.”
In addition to the senior team accolades, Kian McMahon-Brown was named the Academy Player of the Season. The young forward showcased his talent by scoring 11 goals for the Under-21s and adding five more for the Under-18s during their impressive run to the semi-finals of the FA Youth Cup. Despite being a second-year scholar, McMahon-Brown has predominantly featured in Andy Farrell’s Under-21 side, demonstrating his potential and readiness for higher levels of competition.
The awards night not only celebrated individual achievements but also underscored Burnley’s collective success in securing promotion to WSL2. The recognition of players like Flemming, Tchaouna, and McMahon-Brown reflects the depth of talent within the club and sets a promising tone for the upcoming season.
