Unai Emery
Unai Emery remains optimistic about Aston Villa’s chances as they prepare for a pivotal match at Villa Park. With the backing of their home supporters, Emery believes his team can overcome the odds and secure a spot in the Istanbul final.
Unai Emery said: “Tomorrow, this match is special. We are playing at Villa Park. They have the advantage and for this reason they are the favourites. I am so, so confident that the supporters will respond like they did in similar games in Europe, like against Olympiacos and PSG. I am expecting it [a strong atmosphere].”
Unai Emery continued: “To achieve the semi-final is something huge. To get and win a trophy is very, very difficult. It is not a defeat in case we are not achieving one trophy. The objective is to keep going, keep improving and having opportunities in the present and future. Only one team wins.”
Unai Emery added: “When I spoke before the first leg, we have a 25 per cent chance to get a trophy. Now, maybe it is less because we started losing. We have a 50 per cent chance, or maybe less, to play the final. You must respect each team.”
Unai Emery further stated: “Our players have lots of experiences, usually getting their highest level. We are improving, including myself, and we will have more challenges to set for the present or future. I don’t think tomorrow is the last opportunity for us or anyone. The players are enjoying the process that we are doing and they are aware about how difficult football is, and the greatest moment we are having in the last three years.”
Emery’s comments reflect a balance of realism and ambition as Aston Villa faces a challenging opponent. The manager is not only focused on the immediate task but also on the broader objective of continuous improvement and future opportunities. Despite acknowledging the difficulty of winning trophies, Emery emphasizes the importance of persistence and growth. His confidence in the team’s ability to rise to the occasion is bolstered by the anticipated support from the Villa Park faithful, which he hopes will recreate the electrifying atmosphere seen in past European encounters.
