Bruno Fernandes
The Manchester Evening News has reported that Manchester United’s star midfielder, Bruno Fernandes, seriously contemplated a move to Al-Hilal. His agent, Miguel Pinho, engaged in discussions with the Middle Eastern club over a potential £100 million transfer. Despite the club not ruling out his sale, Fernandes ultimately decided against the move after consulting with his family. This decision has proven fruitful, as Fernandes is currently enjoying a stellar season with United, recording 18 assists in the Premier League for the 2025/26 season, just two shy of the all-time record held by Kevin de Bruyne and Thierry Henry.
Bruno Fernandes said: “I stayed because I thought I still had something that I can give back to the club. Obviously the Saudi situation, with the money… there was a lot. The good thing I have in my family is that my wife is pretty down to earth like me. We’re very aware that we don’t want to be the richest person in the world. We just want to be the ones that have achieved the dreams they had and live a good life with their kids and trying to be as successful as possible.”
Bruno Fernandes continued: “The words of my wife were like, ‘have you achieved your dreams? Have you achieved everything you wanted?’ And that small thing she said made me understand that she’s on the same page as me.”
The former Sporting star Bruno Fernandes added: “It’s a huge privilege to be in the conversation. You can say as many times as you want that you want to win trophies collectively. That is true. But these individual accolades are always nice on the personal side. It is players voting for you. That has a different impact because you have been playing against them. If they recognise you as one of the best in the league, it’s a huge privilege.”
Fernandes’ decision to remain at Manchester United has been pivotal in his career trajectory. His remarkable form this season has not only contributed significantly to the team’s performance but has also positioned him as one of the top players in the league. The midfielder’s ability to provide assists at such a high level underscores his importance to the team and highlights his decision to stay as a wise one. His reflections on the influence of his family, particularly his wife’s perspective, reveal a grounded approach to his career and life goals. As Fernandes continues to shine in the Premier League, his focus remains on achieving both personal and collective success with Manchester United.
