Sean Dyche Burnley
Nottingham Forest’s turbulent season sees Vitor Pereira taking the reins as their fourth manager, following the dismissal of Sean Dyche after a goalless draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Dyche, who lasted just 114 days in the role, expressed his belief that he could have guided the team to a 12th-place finish if given the full season. Now, Pereira is entrusted with the task of navigating the club away from relegation danger.
Sean Dyche said: “I was very proud to do it because obviously I have a soft spot – and still have – for Forest, just to make that clear and to reiterate again. I don’t hope there’s trouble for them, definitely not. I don’t want trouble for them.”
Sean Dyche continued: “We worked very hard, trying to change the culture for the third manager in, (which was) very difficult. I had no problem with the owner (Evangelos Marinakis), by the way. Things change. The noise changes quickly. We went in there, all ex-Forest people one way or another, with good heart to do the job. And I think we were doing the job – the points said that and the table said that.”
Sean Dyche added: “The bit what we went in there for was to win. We got 22 points out of their total so far. That doesn’t sound a lot, but it is when you look at their total. And then you go, well, actually that’s a pretty healthy return. I think we were eighth in the form table and I think if I’d have taken over at the beginning of the season, we would have been 12th.”
Reflecting on his departure, Sean Dyche stated: “I know what I’m doing in the Premier League, that’s for sure. I don’t say that like I’m patting myself on the back, it’s just fact. I’ve been doing it a long, long time in the Premier League and it’s not an easy league to do it in.”
Dyche’s tenure was marked by efforts to instill a new culture at the club, alongside his assistants Ian Woan and Steve Stone. Despite his short stint, Dyche emphasized the progress made under his leadership, highlighting the 22 points secured during his time in charge. He also addressed rumors of overworking players in training and not bonding with the squad, dismissing such claims as misconceptions.
In a candid conversation with talkSPORT, Dyche humorously addressed speculation about his appointment, joking with host Jonny Owen about the circumstances surrounding his hiring. He also reflected on the changing dynamics of modern football, where the relationship between managers and players is evolving.
As Pereira takes over, the focus shifts to securing Nottingham Forest’s Premier League status. With the club in a precarious position, Pereira’s experience and tactical acumen will be crucial in steering the team away from the relegation zone.
