Mikel Arteta Arsenal
Arsenal is facing a challenging period as they prepare for a crucial title run-in against Manchester City, with a series of injuries affecting key players. The Gunners are currently nine points behind City, who also have a game in hand. This match was postponed due to City’s participation in the Carabao Cup final, where they defeated Arsenal 2-0. While City has a relatively healthy squad, Arsenal’s injury list continues to grow, posing significant concerns for manager Mikel Arteta.
Mikel Arteta said: “To avoid any risk and to protect the player’s health, he has been removed from the squad. Arsenal FC’s medical staff have been informed of the situation.”
An FA statement confirmed: “Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka will also return to Arsenal for medical assessment, having arrived on Friday along with nine other players. Consequently, Madueke has been released from Tuchel’s squad with what England described as a ‘knock.'”
Thomas Tuchel said: “It’s too early. Now we have some injuries and there’s also a medical update on the players who came. Not everyone is fully fit as I understood.”
The French Football Federation confirmed: “William Saliba is unable to join the French national team’s training camp, which begins this Monday, March 23rd. The Arsenal centre-back is suffering from recurring pain in his left ankle, requiring treatment and a minimum rest period of ten days.”
The injuries have hit Arsenal hard, with several players withdrawing from international duty. Martin Zubimendi’s withdrawal from his national team marked the latest setback for the Gunners. Piero Hincapie also returned to Arsenal from the Ecuador squad, while Leandro Trossard pulled out of Belgium’s fixtures due to a hip injury. Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka’s return for medical assessments further compounds Arsenal’s woes.
William Saliba, who played in the Carabao Cup final, suffered an ankle injury, ruling him out of France’s international fixtures. His absence, along with Martin Odegaard’s knee problem, which kept him out of the Carabao Cup final, leaves Arsenal’s defense vulnerable. Gabriel Magalhaes is another key player sidelined due to knee pain, missing Brazil’s friendlies.
Jurrien Timber’s injury during Arsenal’s win over Everton earlier this month adds to the growing list of concerns. The full-back’s absence from Netherlands duty underscores the severity of Arsenal’s injury crisis.
As Arsenal navigates this challenging period, the team’s medical staff faces the daunting task of preparing players for the upcoming fixtures, including a crucial FA Cup match against Southampton. The Gunners will need to rely on their squad depth and resilience to maintain their title challenge against a formidable Manchester City side.
