Wayne Rooney Manchester United
Kai Rooney, the promising young forward for Manchester United, has been forced to sit out the rest of the season due to an injury. The 16-year-old had been making significant strides in his development, featuring prominently for both the U16s and U18s teams. His absence is a blow to United’s youth setup, particularly as the U18s are vying for success in the FA Youth Cup.
Kai Rooney wrote: “Disappointed to be out for the rest of the season. Back stronger next pre-season.”
The injury has dashed Rooney’s hopes of contributing to the U18s’ campaign as they prepare to face Crystal Palace in the semi-finals and the Premier League Cup final. His parents, Wayne and Coleen Rooney, have been supportive, attending his final match before the injury was confirmed.
Coleen Rooney said: “He’s lived it from a young age. I’ve got no worries about the way he deals with it. It’s nice that we know what to expect. And we can try to guide him. Obviously, it’s his life, his passion. He can decide what he wants to do. But I think it’s good we’ve got the knowledge.”
Despite the setback, Kai Rooney has had a remarkable year, earning a scholarship within United’s youth system and the opportunity to sign a professional contract next season. He has also signed with Triple S Sports, joining an agency that represents several United first-team players, including Harry Maguire.
Triple S Sports announced: “Delighted to announce the signing of @kairooney.10 to Triple S Sports! We’re excited to begin working with the Manchester United forward as he continues his journey in the game.”
Interestingly, due to Manchester United’s club policy, Kai Rooney is not permitted to wear his Puma boots while playing for the U16s, a rule designed to maintain uniformity and accessibility among players from diverse backgrounds.
Wayne Rooney said: “He’s obviously with Puma but when he plays for the Manchester United U16s, something which I really like is he can’t wear his Puma boots. All the academy have to wear the same boots. They do it because there’s people from areas where they can’t afford certain boots so I think it’s really good.”
Kai Rooney’s injury is undoubtedly a setback, but his achievements and the support of his family and agency suggest a bright future ahead.
