Brenden Aaronson
Brenden Aaronson, Leeds United’s dynamic playmaker, has experienced a rollercoaster journey during his time at Elland Road. Recently, he has showcased his scoring prowess by netting in consecutive league matches against Manchester United and Newcastle United. However, despite these achievements, Aaronson has struggled to maintain consistent end product, as seen in his missed opportunity against Crystal Palace. Despite these challenges, Aaronson remains optimistic about his form and mental state.
Brenden Aaronson said: “I’m feeling good at the moment and really confident. I think that’s a big thing for footballers nowadays, confidence. For me, when I’m able to play freely, play like myself, it’s big. I think a few things go into it. The style of play we’re playing at the moment, the formation, is big for me because I feel like I have a freer role, being able to roam behind Dom [Calvert-Lewin] and get in on the half turn and not have to defend as much as I was in the four. And my mental space at the moment, I work with people of course. I feel really good mentally and am playing some of the best football in my career. My goal is to not let this drop, this is the minimum for me. I want to keep going like this.”
Aaronson’s journey with Leeds has not been without its trials. The 25-year-old faced significant criticism during his initial season, especially when the club faced relegation from the Premier League. The pressure of not delivering goals and assists, which he was brought in to provide, weighed heavily on him. Aaronson candidly shared his initial struggles with social media backlash and how he has grown from these experiences.
Brenden Aaronson explained: “You hit that period where you’re not getting goals or assists, and that’s what you’re brought in to do. That was definitely a shock and was tough for me. I didn’t know how to stay away from social media either. I never really had hate like that on social media and that was difficult. But I’ve learned a lot. And now it doesn’t bother me. You grow, you have to go through things and that’s how you get better.”
Despite the challenges, Aaronson’s current mindset is one of resilience and determination. He is focused on maintaining his form and contributing positively to the team’s success. His ability to adapt to the team’s tactical changes and his commitment to personal growth have been pivotal in his recent performances. As Leeds United continues its campaign, Aaronson’s role will be crucial in their quest for success.
