Nottingham Forest has announced significant reductions in ticket prices for their upcoming Europa League match against FC Midtjylland. This decision comes in response to disappointing ticket sales and criticism from supporters regarding the initial cost of attending the game. The club initially reduced prices by £10 on Tuesday, followed by further cuts on Wednesday, resulting in adult tickets now ranging from £15 to £30 for season card holders and MyForest Members. The club later extended the price reduction to all supporters.
Ryan Yates said: “It’s huge. We have spoken a lot about that connection with the supporters. At the City Ground, when it is rocking and when they are loud, they give us that extra little boost. For the club to recognise that the supporters weren’t happy or that we were not going to sell the stadium out, they have changed that to try to give more supporters the opportunity. It is difficult; I don’t know the finances but it must be difficult for the club also. To find that balance and get more supporters in the ground will only help us. I am sure that the supporters will appreciate it as well.”
Vitor Pereira said: “We need to be ready as a club – not only the players, but also the supporters. We must be ready for this fight and for this big challenge – not only in the Europa League but also the Premier League. We need to feel the energy and we need to make them proud of our work. This is the connection. This is why I believe the president (owner Evangelos Marinakis), in his mind, wants to connect the supporters, the club and the city. I think it was a good decision to make (to reduce prices), because it is not easy for supporters. Season Card holders and MyForest Members can still enjoy the best possible prices to take in the action.”
The revised ticket prices now range from £25 to £40 for adults, £20 to £35 for seniors, £15 to £30 for youths, and £10 to £25 for children. Initially, ticket prices were set between £50 and £70, which led to fan dissatisfaction. The club’s decision to lower prices aims to enhance the matchday atmosphere at the City Ground, encouraging more fans to attend and support the team. This move is part of a broader strategy to strengthen the connection between the club, its supporters, and the city, as emphasized by both Yates and Pereira.
