Nottingham Forest
Despite the mounting pressure at the lower end of the Premier League table, Nottingham Forest and Tottenham Hotspur remain in control of their own destinies. This assertion comes from Simon Jordan, who emphasized that both clubs should focus on their performances rather than the results of their relegation rivals, such as West Ham United.
Simon Jordan said: “If they [West Ham] cooked some gas against Man City and Aston Villa, then yeah they can send a message to their relegation rivals. Tottenham and Nottingham Forest are still in control of their own destiny. They can’t be really worried about what West Ham are doing and if they are, then they’re not taking care of their own business.”
Simon Jordan continued: “Nothing that West Ham can do is going to make any difference to Tottenham and Nottingham Forest if they do their jobs, so there’s nothing that they need to worry about with West Ham because they can’t affect what’s happening with West Ham.”
Jordan’s comments came after West Ham United secured a place in the FA Cup quarter-finals following a penalty shoot-out victory against Brentford. Despite West Ham’s recent performances, including defeats to Liverpool and Chelsea, Jordan believes that the fate of Nottingham Forest and Tottenham lies squarely in their hands. The focus for these clubs should be on their own matches and ensuring they secure the necessary points to avoid relegation.
The situation for Tottenham has seen a turnaround under the management of Nuno Espirito Santo, who has revitalized the team. Jordan acknowledged the impact of Nuno’s leadership, which has provided Tottenham with a fighting chance in a season that previously seemed bleak.
Simon Jordan added: “Obviously we were saying a month ago, Barry Silkman, telling you there’s no way that Dave [Sullivan] should be keeping Nuno Espirito Santo and here we are with Nuno Espirito Santo breathing life into what looked like a decaying corpse. They’re right in it and giving themselves a real chance that nobody thought they would be given.”
As the season progresses, both Nottingham Forest and Tottenham Hotspur will need to maintain their focus and capitalize on their remaining fixtures to secure their Premier League status. The emphasis remains on internal performances rather than external results, a strategy that could prove decisive in their survival battle.
