Bukayo Saka Arsenal
Arsenal celebrated a vital 1-0 win over Brighton at the Amex Stadium, which coincided with Manchester City dropping points in a 2-2 draw against Nottingham Forest at the Etihad. This combination of results allowed Arsenal to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table to seven points. The win has further bolstered the Gunners’ aspirations as they continue their pursuit of silverware this season.
Bukayo Saka said: “This feels like a massive win for us. We didn’t know the score, but we heard the fans celebrating out of nowhere, so I kind of knew in my head something went well in the other games. But we focused, got the result and we feel good about it.”
Saka continued: “Yeah, of course, it’s a nice feeling. We know we’re in a race, and it’s very tight. It’s been like that the last few years. Tonight, we played at the same time, and we both needed to win. Massive games. We did, they didn’t, so we can be happy today.”
On the dressing room celebrations, Saka said: “Obviously we’re going to enjoy the result. For us, it feels like a massive result, regardless of the City result. This game was quite ugly for us. For us, that’s massive.”
Martin Keown said: “A massively significant night. And we said at the start of the night, this might be the game… You go and win it and you know, your biggest rival Man City slipping up… Honestly it was torturous to watch it, but Gabriel, his performance at the back was absolutely immense.”
Mikel Arteta said: “Yeah it’s a huge win. Shrugging it off, Arteta said: “It is the league, when you look at the amount of minutes.”
The victory against Brighton was not only crucial in terms of points but also in boosting the morale of the Arsenal squad. The Gunners are currently enjoying a strong run under the management of Mikel Arteta, with their sights set on both the Premier League and Champions League titles. Additionally, they have progressed to the Carabao Cup quarter-finals, indicating a promising season ahead.
Arsenal’s triumph was underscored by a resolute defensive display, particularly from Gabriel, whose performance was lauded by former Arsenal legend Martin Keown. The Gunners’ ability to secure a win despite a challenging game highlights their resilience and determination as they aim for glory this season.
