Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly considering action after appointing Neros Coachman, a self-proclaimed Arsenal supporter, as an academy scout. The decision has stirred up controversy among Spurs fans and has caught the attention of the club’s management. Coachman, who announced his new role on social media, made light of his footballing loyalties, which has not sat well with the Tottenham community.
Neros Coachman said: “It’s official. I’m now here, I sat and had the conversation and the project was exciting to say the least. Now looking forward to getting the new set of superstars to the club. You know the project’s good when you’re a boyhood Arsenal fan and you switch sides.”
The backlash intensified following responses to Coachman’s post. Some fans expressed discomfort with his comments, particularly his interaction with another user who suggested needing “someone on the inside,” to which Coachman replied, “shhhhh.” A post from The Spurs Express, which has garnered significant attention, criticized Coachman for appearing to mock the club and joking about his reluctance to wear Tottenham attire.
The Spurs Express stated: “It is quite bizarre that, seemingly, a newly appointed member of staff at #Tottenham, who is a strong Arsenal fan, is openly mocking the club and joking about not wanting the badge to touch his skin, how ‘it was tough’ to put on Tottenham attire, and how he’ll be an ‘inside man’. These are jokes, of course, but it doesn’t seem particularly befitting, given that he has taken up a role at #Spurs.”
In response to the growing controversy, Coachman addressed the situation through an Instagram story before it was taken down. He clarified that his comments were made in jest among friends.
Coachman added: “This is wild. Yes, I’m an Arsenal Fan. And yes, I was joking with friends.”
The situation has added to the challenges facing Tottenham, who are currently struggling in the Premier League, sitting in 16th place and four points clear of the relegation zone. The club has yet to secure a victory in their last ten league fixtures. Meanwhile, Igor Tudor, recently appointed as Thomas Frank’s successor, has started his tenure with consecutive losses in the league.
As the story unfolds, it remains to be seen how Tottenham will handle the situation and whether Coachman’s position will be affected by the ongoing scrutiny.
