As the summer transfer window looms, Nottingham Forest’s players find themselves at the center of speculation, with Manchester United reportedly showing interest in some of the squad. Despite these distractions, head coach Pereira remains adamant that the team’s focus is solely on their current Premier League campaign and their Europa League ambitions.
Pereira said: “He (Gibbs-White) is a top player, a captain; a top player with spirit. Elliot is the same – a top player with spirit. That’s why I accepted the job, because I have very good players. He is paying no attention to talk about his future.”
Elliot Anderson said: “I’m just focusing on my football at the moment and performing and trying to give everything for Nottingham Forest. That’s all that’s on my mind. It’s been a big two years (at Forest). I think I’ve done pretty well, to be honest, in the time I’ve been here. I’ve matured on and off the pitch. It’s thanks to the club for giving me that platform to go out there and play and let me do my stuff.”
The commitment from both Pereira and Anderson underscores the club’s determination to maintain their competitive edge as they prepare for a crucial Europa League play-off second leg against Fenerbahce at the City Ground. With an 8 pm kick-off on Thursday night, the focus remains on securing their place in the last 16 of the competition.
Anderson’s move to Nottingham Forest from his boyhood club was a significant career decision. Reflecting on this, he emphasized the importance of taking such steps for personal and professional growth.
Anderson said: “In players’ careers, you never know where you’re going to be. Moving from your home town is a big step in your career. It was definitely something I needed to do and it has ended really well so I’m happy I made that step.”
With the summer transfer window approaching, the speculation surrounding Forest’s key players is likely to intensify. However, the club’s current focus on achieving their goals both in the Premier League and in Europe remains unwavering.
