Daniel Farke
Facundo Buonanotte’s debut for Leeds United in the FA Cup against Birmingham City was less than impressive, leading to questions about his future role at the club. Despite his struggles, Leeds fans can take solace in the fact that the club did not spend on his transfer, as his loan from Chelsea was cut short by Brighton & Hove Albion. The young Argentine midfielder, who has previously featured in the Champions League, now faces the challenge of proving himself worthy of a starting position.
Daniel Farke said: “He’s a very young player. Sometimes you forget a bit about it when you speak about him. Of course, if you didn’t play much in the last month, it’s difficult to be at your very best physically. It’s also difficult in terms of confidence level and rhythm of the game to be at your very best. We’ll give him a platform. But then it’s up to him to go through the door. We just can bring him to the door, and then it’s up to him.”
Farke added: “You have to fight in order to win your momentum and your rhythm back. I’m happy that he has already 45 minutes, but he knows that he’s a bit away from his very best. He needs to work hard and in training, and when he gets a chance, he needs to use each every minute in order to improve and bring himself to the level where he can shine in such a game.”
Buonanotte’s start at Leeds has been challenging, with limited game time contributing to his lack of impact. His omission from the squad that defeated Nottingham Forest was unexpected, raising questions about his readiness for Premier League football. Despite these setbacks, Farke emphasizes the importance of hard work and seizing opportunities in training to regain form and confidence.
The Argentine midfielder, at just 21 years old, has ample time to develop and fulfill the promise that led to interest from clubs like Chelsea and Leicester City. His international experience with Argentina underscores his potential, but he must now focus on consistency and resilience to secure a place in Leeds United’s starting lineup. With three months remaining in the season, Buonanotte has the opportunity to turn his fortunes around and prove his worth to the team.
