Curtis Jones
Inter Milan’s interest in Liverpool’s Curtis Jones has been reignited following his impressive performance against the Italian giants in the Champions League. The young England international’s display at the San Siro, where Liverpool handed Inter their first home defeat in the competition in three years, has reportedly caught the attention of the Serie A club. This interest comes amidst broader speculations about potential player movements involving Liverpool and other top European clubs.
Arne Slot said: “I think it is perfectly normal that very good football players are in the interest of big clubs, like us, trying to extend with him and clubs wanting to sign him. And if you go to the end of your contract, I think it is also normal that other big clubs think: ‘Hmmm, maybe there’s a deal to be done’. Because, and I am saying this every time I am standing here lately, you know our model. Other clubs know our model as well, so other clubs might think: ‘Okay, there is no use calling them because they don’t sell’, we have a different model.”
Slot added: “He is a Liverpool player and I think I have said this a few times, he is good enough to play for us, to start for us. He is a very good player but the only line where we don’t have issues is the midfield and he has been playing the last 18 months more than he ever has in his time at Liverpool. So that tells you a lot about the development he has made.”
The potential transfer interest in Curtis Jones is indicative of Liverpool’s model of sustainability, which often sees their players linked with other top clubs. Despite being benched in recent high-profile matches against Arsenal and Manchester City, Jones’s development over the past 18 months has been noteworthy. His ability to perform on big stages, such as the San Siro, underscores his growing reputation.
Interest from Tottenham Hotspur has also been reported, adding to the speculation surrounding Jones’s future. While talks of a new agreement with Liverpool are ongoing, the process is expected to be lengthy, as recent history suggests. The dynamic within Liverpool’s squad, particularly in the midfield, remains competitive, with Jones having played more consistently than ever before.
As the transfer window approaches, it remains to be seen if Inter Milan or any other club will make a formal move for Jones. However, his performances have certainly placed him on the radar of Europe’s elite clubs, and his future at Liverpool will be closely watched in the coming months.
