A football fan suffered a suspected bleed on the brain after being attacked at Wolverhampton Railway Station. The incident, which took place in the waiting area at Platform 4 around 6.30 pm on Saturday, February 7, involved a large group of men waiting for a train. The victim, who was singing football chants, was approached by a man from the group and punched twice in the face, causing him to fall to the ground. The attacker then fled the station.
British Transport Police said: “The incident happened at around 6.30 pm on Saturday (February 7) in the waiting area at Platform 4. A large group of men were waiting for a train when the victim began singing football chants. Shortly afterwards, a man from the group approached him and punched the victim twice in the face, causing him to fall to the floor. The man then left the station.”
The statement continued: “The victim was taken to hospital where he remains with a suspected bleed on the brain. His condition is not believed to be life-threatening, but may potentially be life-changing. Officers believe the man in the images could have information that may assist their enquiries.”
The victim, who was wearing a light grey hoodie with the letters C, L, and U on the left arm and a black gilet over the hoodie, remains hospitalized. His injuries may have significant long-term effects, though they are not considered life-threatening. British Transport Police have released images of a man they wish to speak to in connection with the assault. They are urging anyone with information to come forward, emphasizing the importance of public assistance in their investigation.
