David Moyes
Everton manager David Moyes has expressed his dissatisfaction with the Premier League’s scheduling of their upcoming match against Bournemouth. The fixture is set to take place at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Tuesday night, despite both teams having played just a few days earlier and being eliminated from the FA Cup, which left them without a weekend fixture. Moyes believes that the game could have been scheduled for Wednesday, allowing both teams an additional day of rest.
David Moyes said: “I was just talking to Andy on the way down here, our press officer. I wonder why, and there is no real reason why this game couldn’t have been on Wednesday. We understand it is a midweek fixture, but we are all getting squeezed in on Tuesday for this one. But look, it is the same for both us and Bournemouth. There is no advantage for either team or disadvantage; it just feels it could have easily been a day later for both teams.”
Everton approaches the match buoyed by a recent 2-1 victory over Fulham. Moyes has indicated that Jarrad Branthwaite might return to the starting lineup after being benched in the previous game. Additionally, Tyrique George, a recent loan acquisition from Chelsea, is expected to make his home debut. The manager also mentioned that Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Charly Alcaraz are back in training, adding depth to the squad.
David Moyes added: “We’ve had a bundle of players who’ve been out injured, but they’re all back training, they’re all fit. You’ve seen that with them playing some games and being on the bench.”
Tyrique George, who joined Everton on loan from Chelsea on transfer deadline day, made his first appearance off the bench against Fulham. Moyes expressed his excitement about the young England Under-21 international’s potential contributions to the team.
Moyes said: “I am [excited about what he can bring]. I’ve seen bits of him which I like, but, again, he’s a young player. It’s not as if we’re getting a Jack Grealish in, someone who’s played three or four hundred games and knows how to play in the big occasions. He’s still a young boy, so we’ve got to be careful that we don’t expect too much from him.”
As Everton prepares for their first match at the new Hill Dickinson Stadium, the club is navigating an exciting period both on and off the pitch. The move signifies a historic phase for Everton, with the women’s team also set to enter Goodison Park. This transition is expected to bring new opportunities and challenges for the club.
Sky Sports will broadcast at least 215 live Premier League games this season, marking a significant increase in coverage. This expansion is set to provide fans with more opportunities to engage with their favorite teams throughout the season.
