Burnley winger Mike Tresor has publicly denied reports suggesting he failed a medical for a potential loan move to French club Lille on transfer deadline day. Tresor, who is currently sidelined with an ankle injury, addressed the rumors through a post on his Instagram stories, clarifying the situation and setting the record straight.
Mike Tresor said: “Clarifying the situation about recent news regarding Lille OSC. Late interest is true, but no medical has found place [sic] and personal agreement either never been reached. Stay blessed y’all.”
Tresor has been absent from Burnley’s lineup for the past six matches due to an ankle injury sustained during a game against Newcastle United. The injury has been a significant setback for the Belgian, who had recently begun to re-establish himself in the team after a challenging period. Burnley manager Scott Parker had previously commented on Tresor’s situation, indicating that the winger would be out for several weeks.
Scott Parker said: “I don’t really want to put a time scale [on things], but it’ll be a number of weeks. It’s not something that needs surgery and we’ve gone another route here because there’s an ankle issue, but the ankle’s stable, so it’s not something that needs surgery. He’s gone through a procedure now where he’s had a couple of injections and we’re hoping [it won’t be too long], but it’ll still be a number of weeks.”
The timing of Tresor’s injury is particularly unfortunate, as he had just started to gain momentum with four appearances over the Christmas period. Parker expressed his frustration regarding the injury, acknowledging the long road Tresor has faced to regain his place in the squad.
Scott Parker said: “Really frustrating. It’s been a long, long road for Mikey for many, many reasons. Partly, you know, Mikey can be accountable for. We’ve seen his quality. He’s edging closer to maybe starting games. But he’s been hit with this injury, which is not ideal, of course not. But it’s football sometimes and it’s professional sport. But yeah, it’ll be alright. We’ll get him back through this.”
Tresor’s denial of the failed medical reports aims to dispel any misconceptions about his potential transfer to Lille. As he continues his recovery, both the player and the club remain hopeful for his return to action in the coming weeks.
