Hugo Ekitike
Hugo Ekitike has continued to impress in the Premier League, taking his goal tally to 15 for the season, including 10 in the league, following a recent brace. However, Liverpool manager Arne Slot emphasizes that it is not just Ekitike’s goal-scoring prowess that stands out, but also his significant improvement in off-the-ball work.
Arne Slot said: “Everyone should talk about his goals and his actions and how nice this is, because this is what pundits and fans like to talk about. This is much more important than work rate off the ball for them. But for me as a manager, I see over the last six or seven months (much) improvement, but lately a lot of improvement in terms of work rate off the ball. The ability to keep on going off the ball, especially with Hugo and Florian. Now I think everyone can see that improvement, and the better we are off the ball, the more they can show how special they are, as well as all the ones that won the league here.”
Slot further elaborated on Ekitike’s integration into the club, highlighting his positive influence both on and off the pitch.
Arne Slot said: “Funny, happy, always brings a nice energy to the training ground, but also to the stadium because the fans love him as well. From the start he is here, I think everybody can see how special he is, how fast he is, that was probably seen in the second goal he scored.”
Ekitike’s recent performance demonstrated his exceptional pace and ability to take on defenders, as seen in his second goal where he successfully maneuvered a one-on-one situation by going on the outside, a challenging feat in modern football. This ability to adapt and excel in various aspects of the game is what makes Ekitike a valuable asset to Liverpool. His contributions off the ball have not only enhanced his personal game but have also positively impacted the team’s overall performance.
The Liverpool Echo’s dedicated LFC Facebook page continues to provide all the latest news and analysis from Anfield, highlighting the ongoing developments and performances of players like Ekitike.
