Arnaud Kalimuendo has quickly made his mark in the Bundesliga, scoring twice in his opening four matches for Eintracht Frankfurt. However, the team is yet to secure a victory this season, and the dismissal of manager Dino Toppmöller has added to the challenges they face. Kalimuendo, who joined Frankfurt on loan after stints with Nottingham Forest and Rennes, is determined to help the team turn their fortunes around.
Kalimuendo said: “It’s not ideal at the moment, we could do with a win. That said, the morale in the squad is very good. We’re capable of recovering from tough situations, like we did in Bremen, for instance. The team has a strong mentality. We want to improve together, learn from our mistakes and grow together. We’re out of the Champions League, so our full focus now is on the Bundesliga and finishing the season strongly.”
Kalimuendo’s journey to Frankfurt has been marked by a series of managerial changes. Having played under three different managers at Nottingham Forest this season—Nuno Espirito Santo, Ange Postecoglou, and Sean Dyche—he now faces the prospect of working with a fifth permanent manager once Frankfurt appoints Toppmöller’s successor. Despite these changes, Kalimuendo is focused on making the most of his time in Germany.
Kalimuendo added: “It could have happened earlier, but the circumstances were different at the time. That said, it’s never too late. I’ve been here since January and am focusing on the here and now. After three years with Rennes and my spell at Nottingham Forest, I particularly wanted more playing time. I then got the offer from Frankfurt and I didn’t have any major doubts. The sporting director approached me in December and I knew there was interest. Better late than never – I’m very happy to be here. At the moment, the only thing that matters to me is helping the team on the pitch, being proactive, scoring goals and getting assists.”
Kalimuendo’s determination to succeed with Frankfurt is evident. His focus on contributing positively to the team, both in terms of goals and assists, highlights his commitment to the club’s success. As Frankfurt navigates the challenges of a managerial transition and aims to improve its league standing, Kalimuendo’s presence could prove pivotal in their quest for a strong finish to the season.
