Bournemouth
AFC Bournemouth is preparing for a historic encounter as they gear up to face Manchester City in their maiden fourth-round FA Cup tie. The match, set to take place at AFC Totton, presents a formidable challenge against one of the top teams in the country. Despite the daunting task ahead, the Bournemouth squad is brimming with excitement and determination.
Jessica Hennessy said: “I think we’re all absolutely buzzing for it. It’s probably the best we’ve trained this week. Everyone is so up for it.”
Hennessy continued: “I think training has been player specific. So us defenders, we know what we’re going to do and what we need to do against some of the best players in the world, really. But as in analysis side, nothing really changes. We always have our analysis on each player, each striker. So nothing really changed changes in terms of that.”
She added: “It’s going to be a different game. Normally we’re used to having the ball and passing it round, but obviously this game isn’t really going to be like that. I think the Macclesfield game just kind of puts a cherry on top for us because we know that we could be like them. We never go into a game thinking, oh, we’re going to get beaten here, we’re going to do this. You never know what’s going to happen. I think that’s what Bled’s been saying to us all week. You just never know what’s going to happen.”
Hennessy’s comments reflect the team’s readiness and adaptability as they face a side known for dominating possession. Bournemouth acknowledges that they might not see as much of the ball as they typically do, prompting a strategic shift in their approach. The squad has focused on specific player roles and defensive strategies to counter Manchester City’s strengths.
The reference to the Macclesfield game serves as a motivational reminder of the potential for surprises in football. Bournemouth enters the match with a mindset of resilience and belief, refusing to concede defeat before the final whistle. The team’s confidence and preparation underscore their ambition to make a mark in this historic encounter.
