Fabio Paratici, who recently returned to Tottenham Hotspur as co-sporting director, is reportedly set to leave the club to join Fiorentina. Paratici had previously worked under Daniel Levy as the sporting director, where he was instrumental in signing players such as Destiny Udogie and Dejan Kulusevski. According to The Athletic, Paratici will continue his current role at Spurs until the transfer window closes on January 2, before transitioning to his new position at Fiorentina. Personal reasons are believed to have influenced the timing of his departure from Tottenham.
Thomas Frank said: “Fabio is Tottenham sporting director. I spoke to him twice yesterday. He is working very hard for Tottenham.”
Thomas Frank also stated: “We are all hurt. There is nothing we want to do more than to get through to the next round, no matter who we face. I guess you have seen the situation through? I just saw it to be sure I saw what I saw. Of course, it’s all about keeping a cool head. The players gave everything, everything out there, (but) losing a tight game, season not going perfect and I think Ollie is very provoking. The way he is going down to celebrate in front of the Villa fans and he is walking into Joao, he can just easily walk around.”
Paratici’s departure comes after a challenging period at Tottenham. He returned to the club in October 2023, following a worldwide ban imposed by FIFA, which led to his initial resignation. During his brief second tenure, Paratici worked alongside Johan Lange as co-sporting director. Despite the off-field challenges, Paratici remained active in his role, striving to bolster Tottenham’s squad.
Thomas Frank, the current Spurs manager, has faced his own set of challenges, including a recent controversial incident involving a coffee cup with the logo of rival club Arsenal. This incident preceded a 3-2 defeat to Bournemouth, adding to the pressure on Frank. Despite these setbacks, Frank has emphasized the importance of maintaining composure and passion, even in difficult circumstances.
Tottenham’s season has been marked by drama and significant talking points, including selection decisions, VAR controversies, and transfer dilemmas. As the club navigates these challenges, the departure of Paratici adds another layer of complexity to their ongoing narrative.
