Sean Dyche Burnley
Marlon Harewood, a former Nottingham Forest striker who made a significant impact at the City Ground with 55 goals in 204 appearances, has expressed his confidence in Sean Dyche’s ability to keep the club in the Premier League. The 25-year-old player recently scored twice in a commanding 3-0 victory over Tottenham, prompting Harewood to suggest that he should be considered for a return to the England national team, having last played for them six years ago.
Marlon Harewood said: “I’ve obviously watched him over the years, but it just seems like he’s found his spot and he’s just flourishing with the team. The England squad this last couple of years has been so, so strong. Whoever he takes is going to be a good asset to the squad. I can’t see him getting in there with the talent that’s on display at the moment, because he’s got some really top-class players that can go and do a job. But he’s got a great shout if he continues to play how he’s playing and be injury-free, why not? I don’t see why not, because I think that’s the dynamic. England need to get players there to put things in the box and put players in positions – and quick players just to turn it around to. I always think England always go sort of defensive and then we always get in trouble in that sense instead of going at players.”
Harewood’s comments reflect his belief in Hudson-Odoi’s potential to contribute to the national team if he maintains his current form and remains injury-free. He emphasized the importance of having dynamic players who can create opportunities and adapt quickly to different situations on the field.
Harewood continued: “They are capable of staying up with the personnel and the players that they’ve got there and I think he’s gone in there to steady the ship. The managers before did fantastically well to get to where they are and last year was probably one of the best seasons for Forest in the Premier League, how they were playing and the fans and everything. The city was electric. This season has not really worked out for them, sometimes it goes like that. I still think they have enough to not get relegated and they are doing really well in Europe. As you can see, they just need to put those performances in Europe into the Premier League, and I think they’ll be fine.”
Harewood praised Dyche’s influence at Nottingham Forest, noting the manager’s ability to stabilize the team and build on the successes of previous seasons. Despite some challenges this season, Harewood remains optimistic about the club’s prospects, both domestically and in European competitions. He highlighted the need for the team to translate their strong European performances into the Premier League to ensure their survival.
Overall, Harewood’s insights underscore his belief in both Dyche’s managerial capabilities and Hudson-Odoi’s potential to make a significant impact for both club and country.
