Scott Parker Fulham
Scott Parker said: “Physically okay, a little bit tired obviously with the game and its demands. Just reboot. You know, always after a game, your emotions are really high. I have to sit in front of you guys and you have to analyse and work out how you see certain things and at that moment, certainly last night, there was a frustration there and a disappointment. But we’re back on it today, we’re back into work and we go again. That’s what we do and that’s what the players do as well, so I’m all good.”
Parker continued: “We keep working and working and that’s solely it. We stay stable beyond anything and we just fall back on the training pitch and working tirelessly. Of course, we’re going through a little bit of a bump here and we’re taking some jabs, but we always fall back on that hard work, certainly on the training ground. But last night, for instance, the fine margins didn’t go our way and we lost the game of football.”
He added: “You’re looking for a certain little bit of quality and we have that. Whether that’s confidence at this present moment in time or things are a little bit rushed… But like I said last night, and I said it after the game, I’m weak in my position when I say it and I reiterate that because we didn’t win the game. But we were playing against a very, very good side and I thought we had real dominance about us.”
On his relationship with Alan Pace, Parker stated: “There are no concerns [from the chairman] at the moment. I was speaking to Alan today, so my relationship with Alan is rock solid. I have a real open, honest and realistic relationship really, so regarding my position in that sense, I have absolutely no worries whatsoever. That makes my job easier, for sure.”
Parker also mentioned: “Well, I think keeping a focus mentally on the players was always going to be a main focus at times this year for me, so that’s going to be no different. These players live in a world now where there’s an extreme amount of noise, and that noise goes up tenfold and there’s not a lot of context in it. For sure, that’s going to be my job to keep things very stable here, give the players that belief.”
Burnley is currently navigating a challenging period, with Parker emphasizing the importance of stability and hard work on the training ground. The manager acknowledged the team’s struggles but remained optimistic about their ability to bounce back. His relationship with chairman Alan Pace appears strong, providing a stable foundation for the club as they strive to improve their form.
Looking ahead to the Newcastle match, Parker acknowledged the quality of Eddie Howe’s side and the challenges of playing away from home. However, he expressed confidence in Burnley’s ability to pose problems for their opponents. The return of Martin Dubravka to St James’ Park was also highlighted, with Parker praising the goalkeeper’s experience and leadership within the squad.
As Burnley prepares for their trip to Newcastle, the focus remains on maintaining stability, working hard, and regaining confidence to turn their season around.
