West Ham manager David Moyes has insisted he and his players are not affected by the criticism of the club from outside London Stadium’s walls after another turbulent summer in the capital. The transfer window and summer in general was rolling on at a relatively sedate pace before the Hammers decided to change all that by selling Grady Diangana to West Bromwich Albion for £18million. That led to captain Mark Noble posting on Twitter that he was “gutted, angry and sad” that the club had sold their academy graduate to a potential relegation rival in the Premier League this season. Losing in dismal fashion to Newcastle United on the opening weekend of the season did little to calm the anger. West Ham have also failed to make a new signing yet despite the obvious need for recruits in its leaky defence that shipped 62 goals last season as the club just about staved off relegation.
David Moyes said “Well if it’s outside noise then just remember how the players played at the back end of last year, I think it would be ridiculous, The performances they [the players] put in, where we came from, how we finished, we were one of the form teams of the last eight or nine games so if it changes after losing one game, well you have to question the people who are saying that.”
