After registering an emphatic win over Leicester City on the opening day of the 1994/95 season, Newcastle United were fearing their skipper’s injury. Peter Beardsley, Newcastle United captain, suffered a fracture in his cheekbone which could have kept him out for six to eight weeks away from the football action. The player underwent an operation on his cheek soon after the game.
Newcastle United manager Kevin Keegan was seen tensed and stuck to his phone, waiting for physio Derek Wright’s word.
Kevin Keegan said “It looks as though we will be without him for six to eight weeks”
