Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has provided an update on the injury of American winger Christian Pulisic and promised the fans that despite the opening day win, his team’s performances will only improve as they get more use to each other’s playing style. Pulisic was expected to be in contention to feature in Chelsea’s win at the AMEX Stadium, but when the line-ups were announced, the winger wasn’t even in the match-day squad.
Frank Lampard said “With Christian, he was training with us last week and had a little bit of discomfort a couple of days ago when he was trying to train with us to be in contention for today, It would have been a big ask for Brighton but he has had to take a few steps back so we’ll have to see. That’s one that I don’t have big news on at the minute. We’ll need to wait and see. We will be better, This is our first game and we’ve only been together as a group for four days and we’ve had two debuts tonight. We showed a lot of good stuff. It wasn’t where we want to be in the end – that will take a bit of time and we will improve for Liverpool as well.”
