Norwich City head coach Daniel Farke says he’s not surprised that former player James Maddison has developed into one of Leicester City’s key men as they chase Premier League leaders Liverpool for the title.
The 23 year old, who left Carrow Road for the King Power Stadium two seasons ago, has gone on to earn full international call-ups with England. On Saturday (December 14) he comes up against his former colleagues for the first time since leaving Norwich in June 2018.
Farke said “I can remember when we first arrived here, he was still like a kid. We had to build him up in physical terms as well as in his positioning and his tactical sense of the game. But although he was young he was greedy to improve each and every day. He’s a confident lad but finds the right balance between being confident. You have to be confident to be able to play in a key role, but also have to be unbelievably greedy and self critical in order to improve.”
Farke and Norwich will be delighted to come face to face with Maddison again but would want to make his afternoon as difficult as possible, as they seek points to get out of relegation zone.
