Daniel Farke
Leeds United is grappling with a mix of injury updates as they prepare for their upcoming match against Bournemouth. While some players are on the mend, others remain sidelined, affecting the team’s lineup decisions. Manager Daniel Farke has provided insights into the current injury situation, which includes both promising recoveries and ongoing challenges.
Daniel Farke said: “Overall in terms of injuries there is some mixed news. Good news is Jayden Bogle is back in team training and it wasn’t a broken toe or anything too serious, just a bruise that was sore and painful. He is available. We have some good news that Daniel James has made progress with his rehab and yesterday was the first time he has joined us in team training. He has a chance to be involved depending on how his body reacts.”
“The bad news is Willy Gnonto won’t make it. He has some problems with his calf and he will definitely miss the match. I hope to have him back in training next week, but this week there is no chance.”
“Lucas has not joined us in team training yet so of course because of that Karl has the chance to play again. He was excellent in the last couple of games and I was really pleased not just with his saves but his natural appearance on the pitch. Lucas we hope he can join us some time next week in team training. At the moment it is realistic to say he is not in contention until after the international break as he will have been out for four weeks.”
The return of Jayden Bogle to team training is a positive development for Leeds United, as his injury was less severe than initially feared. His availability adds depth to the squad, providing Farke with more options in defense. Similarly, Daniel James’s progress in rehabilitation is encouraging, and his participation in team training marks a significant step towards his return to competitive action. However, his involvement in the upcoming match will depend on his physical response to the training sessions.
On the downside, Willy Gnonto’s calf issue rules him out of the Bournemouth fixture, with hopes of his return to training next week. This absence is a setback for Leeds, as Gnonto’s contributions have been valuable. Additionally, Lucas Perri’s ongoing quad problem means he will not be available until after the international break. In his absence, Karl Darlow has solidified his position as the starting goalkeeper, impressing with his recent performances.
As Leeds United navigates these injury challenges, the team remains focused on maintaining their form and securing a positive result against Bournemouth. The international break will provide an opportunity for further recovery and reintegration of key players into the squad.
